Well, after the flan thing a couple of weeks ago, I was ready for something that was a little more my style. This gratin is basically all of the things I love: potatoes, cheese and cream. I wish it called for a quarter cup of butter, but I’m not complaining! This recipe was a huge improvement for me. If you’re looking for a potato dish for Thanksgiving, this is very simple. I made the basic recipe, but you can change it up with bacon, onions, spinach, broccoli or any other number of things. You can customize this very easily.
I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the flan, but I’m back on board this week! A word of warning though, if you’re making this for company, you may want to cook the cream and garlic ahead of time. My house smells overwhelmingly of garlic right now!

/ November 19, 2010Gratin Potatoes at my house, also. They were good…but, while your house was aromatic, my potatoes seemed to be over-powered by the garlic. I will make an adjustment next time.

/ November 19, 2010I agree with that wonderful aroma that also filled my house. We don’t burn smell-good candles at my house, we bake.
