So, to all the other Dorie posters out there, am I the only one not seeing an updated link page for the past couple of weeks? If they’re not going to update, I don’t know how motivated I am to make this week’s salmon!
As for the blueberry dessert, I made it on Saturday, and I thought it was amazing. I’m usually a little leery of a recipe that calls for the extra step of beating the egg whites, but this really wasn’t too bad. It’s definitely the most involved recipe this month, but it was also the best. I substituted cream cheese for the mascarpone, and I don’t think there were any issues.
The sponge cake was absolutely perfect. I’ve had problems making rolled cakes work in the past, but this went off without a hitch. I’ll definitely be making this again. I think it would be wonderful with strawberries. If you have Dorie’s book, then you need to make this recipe!
*What is French Fridays with Dorie? An online cooking group dedicated to working our way through Dorie Greenspan’s newest book, Around My French Table. We try a new recipe each week and post about it on Fridays. If you’re interested you can pick up a copy of the book and follow along with us here.
As for points, I’m on my way back!
Points this week: 18
Points to date: 381

/ July 20, 2012Gorgeous!
This was my first time making a rolled cake and I was so happy with how the cake cooperated.
I think Laurie is on vacation- I am not on FB, but apparently a bunch of people are leaving links over at the FFwD FB page.

/ July 20, 2012Ooh, I loved this recipe. I was scared to death to make it, having never made a jelly role before, but it actually held together and was oh so tasty.
As for the FFwD page, apparently Laurie is on vacation and so no, you are not the only one who noticed that we haven’t had a new link in a while. But she put the salmon one up today and hopefully she can appoint a backup so that we don’t end up drifting away.
