A couple of months ago, Stacy asked who in the group was pregnant. She said she wanted to throw a little shower/get together for the group. I don’t think any of the five pregnant women had any clue what Stacy had in mind! I’ve been to a few events since I joined this group, but I was not adequately prepared for the generosity heaped upon us.
The baby shower was held at Crib & Kids, a local baby store. Here is where I need to mention Courtney, the owner of Crib and Kids. I’m pretty sure she worked her magic and her vendors supplied a lot of the goodies I brought home! Anyway, back to the party… you pretty much have to feel like a VIP when the store has been closed just for the party!
We got to the store and there were balloons, and cookies and an amazing pinwheel display (Thanks to The TomKat studio and Minted). There was also a treat table full of granola, macarons, and designer cookies (from M5Cake). We spent probably an hour chit chatting and snacking and taking pictures with Amanda’s amazing backdrop, then we went and sat down for a couple of games.
I’m pretty competitive, so I’m still a little annoyed about losing the celebrity baby names game… I mean, who names their baby Photo, and since when is Arthur Ashe considered a celebrity?! That name clearly belonged in the athletic division!
After the games, there were gifts. Gifts isn’t even the right word, it’s like we were on Oprah! There was so much stuff! The greatest thing for me is that I’ve already had my baby, so I don’t have to wait months to use my presents! It’s funny, because you would think that by the time the sixth kid comes along that you’re pretty much done with new stuff, but now I feel like we should have a couple more just so that we can get full use out of the new presents (that was a total joke … I’m fully aware that my husband is done having kids!). The picture doesn’t even show it all. There was also a Chicco Portable Play yard and a Dr. Smiths gift basket. Some of the stuff was so new that it’s not even in stores yet. It’s enough to make this mother of six feel a little bit hip!
Here is where I need to take a quick minute and talk about Stacy. This is an amazing lady, and I’m so grateful for this group that has allowed me to meet and get to know all of these bloggers. Stacy is always thinking about other people and trying to find fun ways to help (Just last night she organized a back to school supply drive for the teachers in the group). Stacy should teach a class on community building, because that’s what she does. So a huge thank you to Stacy, and everyone else who made this possible, for making this group so wonderful.
I’ve waited a couple of weeks to write about this in part because I’m still so overwhelmed. It’s hard for me to describe how grateful I am to these ladies, not just for the stuff (which is wonderful), but for their friendship. I don’t know how many other groups there are like this one, that does so much for all of its members. It sounds weird to say this, but I came home from the baby shower wondering what kind of thing that I could do for someone else to make them feel like Stacy, Amanda and Courtney made me feel. I just hope they know how grateful I am … for everything.
