Caramelized Onion Dip with Veggie Chips | Green Giant Review

I love trying new things. I especially love getting to find out about things before other people. I’m pretty sure this is a character flaw on my part, but I have worse flaws, so I’m not going to dwell on it! One of the best things about blogging is getting to find out about new things, and share them with you guys.

A couple of weeks ago I received a box of Green Giant Veggie Snack Chips in the mail. I held on to the chips until I was ready to make something to go with them. My biggest fear was that my kids would see them and eat them all before I had a chance to try them!

So here’s the deal with these chips, they’re whole grain, and made with veggies, but they don’t exactly count towards your daily serving of vegetables! Here’s the great thing though, they’re delicious! I tried the Ranch flavor and the Sweet Potato Barbeque flavor. both of these were a huge hit at my house. I was a little worried, because sometimes things that are whole grain/a healthier alternative are not nearly as flavorful. You could serve these to anyone and they would never know the difference between the Veggie Snack Chips and any other tortilla chip!

My only tiny pet peeve was that the bags they sent me weren’t bigger, but maybe that’s because Green Giant is trying to do me a service by not having me overdose on Veggie Snack Chips while my husband is out of town (I’m safe now though, because my husband is back!)!

I decided to make a dip to serve with the chips. I’m not going to lie, any health benefits that the chips might have are completely destroyed by this dip, but if you’re looking for delicious then you’ve come to the right place!

When I’m serving chips with dip, I prefer a warm dip, and when I’m serving veggies, I like a cold dip. I’m not sure if this is any kind of culinary rule, or if it’s just a bit of Sarah’s kitchen wisdom!  This dip can be served hot or cold, but it was amazing hot! If you want to make the dip in advance, just refrigerate it and then put it in the microwave. It’s perfect for the upcoming college football season, or for consoling yourself if your husband had to leave town on your birthday (I’m not naming names here. This blog isn’t about blame!)!

If you’re at the store and see the Green Giant Veggie Snacks and are wondering about them, trust me, they’re worth it. If they have two sizes, buy the bigger size!

  1. YUM! One of my favorite snacks is chips and dip, which is horrible for me so I can’t keep it in the house very often. But I definitely want to give these chips and dip a try!

    I’m pinning this 🙂
