Friday Reads: Cravings by Chrissy Teigen

I received Cravings, by Chrissy Teigen as part of my Pop Sugar Must Have Box subscription. I’m not going to lie, I was a little suspicious of a cookbook written by a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. I don’t generally want to try a recipe for chicken wings given to me by someone who looks like they’ve never tried something deep fried! Also, I’m generally a little skeptical about celebrity cookbooks. I feel like I’m pretty trusting, but you know as well as I do, that just because you’re a reality tv star, does not mean that you can cook! (Obviously no judgement here!)

So far I’ve made three recipes from this book. I would definitely call the food comfort food. If I’m looking through a cookbook I’m not generally in the mood for healthy stuff, so comfort food suits me just fine. A plus of living in Alaska is that it’s never too hot for heavy food!

The food that I made was all delicious, and my husband really enjoyed it. I wish there was a dessert section, because comfort food without dessert seems wrong to me.I’m pretty sure that Chrissy Teigen probably has a mean recipe for brownies! Also, if you’re the kind of person that likes to read through cookbooks with your kids, looking for ideas, just be aware that the language canΒ  be a little salty. If you follow Chrissy Teigen then that won’t come as any surprise to you! If you’re a grownup, the whole thing makes for a pretty funny book! There also seem to be a lot more photos of Chrissy than the food, but she’s gorgeous, so that may have been a good strategy!

If you’re in the mood for some comfort food with a side of sass, then Cravings is probably the cookbook for you!
