Every Summer Nordstrom has their Anniversary sale with huge markdowns on fall products. When I first shopped the sale I focused mostly on sneakers for all my kids, and maybe a pair of shoes for me. I still have the pair of Sofft heels that I bought at my first anniversary sale ten years ago! These days, my kids feet are growing too fast for Nordstrom sneakers, so instead I look for some fun pieces for the house.
There is actually a Nordstrom in Anchorage, and they’re definitely popular in Alaska. Being able to shop at Nordstrom is one of the things that makes me feel a little less remote, and I love that they honor their free shipping up here (that isn’t the case for a lot of retailers). This year I ordered a couple of gorgeous marble serving pieces. They have a great combination of weight and lightness.
The Anniversary Sale goes until August 6th. If you’re on social media at all then you’ve probably seen a million “favorite things,” but if you’re looking for something that will be in style for long past the fall/winter season, check out the housewares section. There are Voluspa candles, pillows, and my favorite serving tray and cake stand! The serving tray I ordered on the first day is sold out, but this wooden one with copper handles is a classic.
I also bought the latte bowls, but if you’re ordering online, I don’t recommend those. They arrived broken twice. I didn’t bother trying for a third, because they’re not really packaged for shipping. The other purchase I’m not completely sold on is this pair of booties. I haven’t returned them, but they don’t look the way I thought they would, so I have to put them with a few outfits and make a final decision. If you have an opinion on the booties, please let me know!
